MOUSE
Mouse is the most popular point and draw device. It is an elector-mechanical device used as a pointer to select items from an "On Screen" menu. Mouse was originally designed with the idea of reducing the number of key strokes required for a particular task. A mouse is a small hand-held device, which can comfortably fit in a user's palm.
The mouse usually has a ball and buttons and is connected to the system unit through serial port or USB port. As a mouse is rolled across the flat desktop in any direction, it locates the pointer correspondingly on the screen. Then it track balls instead of mice. A scientist Dugles C. Engelwart has invented this equipment in 1997 at standard Research Laboratory. Previously it was known as Point Device.
BAR CODE READER (BCR)
The bar code reader is a photoelectric scanner that read the bar code. This is used for fast identification of items with an optimal scanner. The optical scanner is called a bar code reader. The Bar Code consists of 11 digits that are used in labeling the retail products.
These classified in:
One : Number system character
Five : Manufacture identification numbers
Five : Item code numbers.
KEYBOARD
A keyboard is a Primary input device, which used to encode data by key depression, which enters information into a system. The keyboard converts alphabets and numbers, and other special symbols into electrical signals that processor can understand and process. These signals are sent to the computer's CPU. It is a common input device. It is provided along with the computer, and is easy to use. When the data is being typed, the display monitor displays the typed data. Cursor is a vertical line, an underscore, blinking line, etc
TOUCH SCREEN
A touch screen is a monitor screen that allows users to interact with a computer system by touching an area of the display screen. The screen is covered with a clear plastic layer that has a matrix of cells. Touch screens is lined with Light Emitting Devices (LED'S) on its vertical sides. Photo detectors are placed on the horizontal sides. When the user's finger approaches the screen, the light beam is broken and is detected by the photo detectors. It used in hospitals, airlines, railway reservation counters, hotels etc.
MONITORS
The most commonly used output deice is the Visual Display Unit (V.D.U.) which is used to display information on the computer screen. The VDU consists of a CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) Which produces a beam of electrons. That makes the picture on the screen. The monitor displays the video and graphics information generated by the computer through the video card. Monitors are very similar to televisions but usually display information at a much higher resolution. A VDu normally consists of 25 rows and 80 columns. The screen is represented by an array of dots called the PIXELS. It has 200 pixels form top to bottom and 640 pixels form left to right
PRINTERS
In computers, a printer is a device that accepts text and graphic output from a computer and transfers the information to paper, usually to standard size sheets of paper. Printers are sometimes sold with computer, but more frequently are purchased separately. Printers vary in size, speed, sophistication, and cost. In general, more expensive printers are used for higher-resolution color printing. zit is the device that produces a hard copy of a file.
DOT-MATRIX
Creates characters by striking pins against an ink ribbon. Each pin makes a dot, and combinations of dots form characters and illustrations. Bot-matrix printers are noisy, inexpensive, and they can print through multipart forms.
HARD DISK
The hard disk drive is the main, and usually largest data storage device in a computer. it is a non-volatile, random access digital magnetic data storage device. A hard disk pack contains two or more magnetic plates fixed to spindle, one below the other with a set of read/write heads. The disk pack is permanently sealed inside a case to protect it from dust and integrity. A Hard Drive is generally the fastest of the secondary storage devices. The rotation speed of hard disk is typically 3600RPM (revolutions per minute)
Joystick
A joystick is an input device commonly used to control video games. Joysticks consist of a base and a stick that can be moved in any direction. The stick can e moved slowly or quickly and in different amounts. Some joysticks have sticks that can also ve rotated to the left or right. Because of the flexible movements a joystick allows, it can provide much greater control than the keys on a keyboard.
